“The Rift is a complex, convoluted story wrapped in visuals and production values that belie its low budget constraints and features two strong turns by movie and genre vets Ken Foree and Monte Markham. Young Serbian director Dejan Zecević does a nice job of making sure the cgi visuals (beautifully done for such a low budget flick) do not dwarf the story and characters.”

For the feature film The Rift, Digitalkraft was hired to do some basic screen replacement shots on phones and computer monitors, shot clean up, muzzle flash, explosions, etc. However, when it was agreed that one particular costume prop was really not up to scratch – the helmet of the stranded astronaut – it was decided that it would be replaced by a CG version in every shot.

It was then agreed that there would be a flashback scene that illustrated the story told by Dyson of the appearance of the Rift on the moon. This lead to the company creating a full CG version of the moon surface, two full body astronauts and a moon buggy, plus the eponymous rift itself.
